Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Inner Anchor is built by a solo founder, not a corporation with a legal department. This policy is written in plain language because you deserve to actually understand it.
The short version: your tasks, journals, and purpose lines are yours. We don't read them, sell them, or use them for advertising. We never will.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is stored securely using one-way hashing, so we cannot read it, even if we wanted to.
Your content
Tasks, journal entries, purpose lines, and any text you write in the app are stored on our servers so they sync across your devices. This content is yours. We do not read it, analyze it, train models on it, or share it with anyone.
Analytics (events only, never content)
We use PostHog to understand how features are used so we can improve the product. We collect basic usage events, but we never send the text of your tasks, journals, or purpose lines to our analytics.
Specifically, we never transmit:
- Task names or descriptions
- Journal text
- Purpose line text
- Any freeform content you write
PostHog may use cookies to understand the signup funnel across our marketing site and the app. This is for product improvement, not for ad targeting.
Error monitoring
We use Sentry to catch and fix bugs. Sentry receives error logs and technical context (browser, OS, stack traces). It does not receive your content.
Chat and support
We use Crisp for in-app chat. If you message us, Crisp stores that conversation. We use it only to help you.
We use Resend for transactional emails (password resets, account confirmations). We don't send marketing emails unless you opt in. We will never sell your email address.
What we don’t collect
We don't use session replay, keylogging, screen recording, or any form of content surveillance. We don't run experiments on you without telling you. We don't have ads, so there are no ad trackers.
Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog | Product analytics | Event names, counts, durations. Never content. |
| Sentry | Error monitoring | Error logs, browser/OS info. Never content. |
| Crisp | Live chat support | Messages you send us via chat. |
| Resend | Transactional email | Your email address. Nothing else. |
| Google Cloud Platform | Hosting | All app data is stored on GCP servers. |
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any party not listed above.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and analytics (anonymous, non-ad identifiers). We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform. All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS). Passwords are hashed using standard one-way hashing. Access to production systems is limited to the founder.
We're a small team (currently one person), and we take security seriously within that context. We don't claim to be Fort Knox, but we follow standard security practices and don't cut corners where it matters.
Data export and deletion
Full self-serve data export and account deletion are on our roadmap. Until those features ship, email support@useinneranchor.com and we'll handle your request manually. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
Children
Inner Anchor is not designed for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. For significant changes that affect how your data is used, we'll notify you by email.
